The exam period has now started. McGill is pretending that the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM) strike will have no impact. This remains to be seen.
This week an investigator from the Ministry of Labour has concluded that the University is using scabs to do the work of the strikers. The investigator Thomas Hayden witnessed on April 11 that a teacher was doing the task of TA in a chemistry lab. This contrevenes to article 109.1 of the Labour Code. Another case was also noticed.
Moreover, CSN has filed a complaint to the ministry of Labour for the illegal firing of 72 AGSEM members.
